Always wanted to visit Montreal, the St Laurent River, la Poutine, their strange accent, the heavy snow and super low temperature….I confirm, only cliché!!, almost… Montreal has something Plus, much nicer and interesting than what I have heard. Beautiful city, good vibes, incredibly nice people, excellent food, good spirit.
What a great week end, beautiful weather, great food and nice walk around the city. Tour the Universities area, Concordia and Mc Gill, lots of students everywhere, nice bars and terraces in Croissant street. Walk St Catherine street the shopping one, Rue St Laurent and its Chinese part, including Peking Duck in windows, and St Denis. I will call it the modern city, even if in between all those modern towers you will face old very nice buildings rich in History.
Dinner at Beatrice: the coziness of the place all made in wood, with a tree inside of the restaurant and a panoramic roof made this place very unique. Italian fine cuisine prepared to perfection.
The branzino and the salmon were exquisite and very well cooked. We couldn’t get enough of the artichokes and mushroom appetizer. The octopus was delicious. Paired with a Pinot Grigio, we had an amazing dinner and moment.
Oysters, Grilled Branzino with a WhiteHaven, Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, New Zeland. Lou’s cut, USDA Prime from Colorado, aged on site between 35 to 45 days.
Nice place, nice music, excellent food, great match!!
Walk the old town, super nice, plenty of good restaurants and Bars. Don’t miss La Champagnerie!! Champagne and oysters!! Late afternoon, spring is coming, seated at the bar, the DJ is playing just the right music. The cheese and charcuterie plates are great too. What I liked the most was Antoine behind the bar, he chose the perfect pairing for the oysters, he knows a lot. His girlfriend is from Annecy and he loves Vermouth Dolin!!! What else!!!!
The place to go in old town!!
Don’t miss a visit to Rue Rachel, concentration of 3 best of: Ma Poule Mouilee, La Banquise and la Fonderie: Incredible but true. La Fonderie serves any kind of fondue, but also the Neuchateloise Fondue, the real one will say the Swiss. Being Savoyard, from Savoie (French Alps) it is hard to digest, not the Fondue of course :). Tasty, light, flavorful, like in Neuch!! A real pleasure. The service is great, people are so nice in Canada. I even visited the kitchen, we had a great time. We also had a Tartiflette, can’t miss this one, we had to. (fyi, this is from the French Alps, from Savoie) :).
Tabarnak! I forget the Sunday brunch: Faberge, Eggxcellent!!! Great restaurant, the perfect place for a Sunday brunch. I was not expecting to wait, outside, but it went well and with a smile. Great smoothie recipes, fresh juices, coffee. Be tempted by the amazing Poutine breakfast with eggs, the waffles with genuine maple syrup, banana and strawberry or a simple omelette with spinach and feta cheese, simple but cooked to perfection.
A great place to start your day. Staff is great.
Thank you my son!! Now that you will study in Montreal, We will come back 🙂
PS: Be careful the way you use the word Tabarnak, might be offensive, definitively slang and may be not appropriate 🙂
