The Ice Hotel
A must do, the Ice Hotel in Sweden, the first one of his kind, the Original. About 200kms North of the Artic Circle, closer ever to the North Pole, located in Jukkasjärvi.
The best way from Kiruna airport (KRN, about 90mn flight from Stockholm) to the Ice Hotel is to go by snowmobile. You will pass by and over frozen lakes, wild forest, make a stop in a typical giant Lavvu tent to eat Sami slow food for lunch, Reindeer meat and fish from the frozen lakes, you are in Swedish Lapland!!
Inside the hotel the temperature is around -5 to -7 degrees Celsius (23 to 19F) when it can be less than -20 outside (-4F). No worries about the cold you will be wrapped up in an expedition type outfit and sleeping bag…A guide will also give you all the security/advice/recommendation on how to be safe and warm in this surprising and unique environment.
Sleep just one night and enjoy your evening at the Ice Bar where you will find your glasses made entirely out of ice. Don’t drink too much or your warm cup of Lingonberry juice served early in the morning when they wake you up will be hard to swallow….Enjoy your hot shower in the heated service building before going on a dog sledding tour or an ice sculpting class. Finish your day with a typical Swedish sauna. Don’t forget to look at the sky, the Northern lights are just incredible and so green…
You will love this amazing gate away with your love one and/or with your teens.
